The Center for the 4th and 5th Rs (Respect and Responsibility) serves as a regional, state, and national resource in character education. Their mission is "Helping schools, teachers, and parents develop good character in youth." The Center disseminates a complimentary packet of resources and articles on character education, sponsors an annual K-12 Summer Institute in Character Education, offers conferences in character education, including a 2-day High School Conference, publishes a Fourth and Fifth Rs newsletter, offers a browsing library of character education materials, and is building a network of "Fourth and Fifth Rs Schools" committed to reaching respect and responsibility and other core ethical virtues as the basis of good character.

Giraffe Will Fitzhugh's Concord Review publishes the history research papers of high school scholars. The Review is a one-man effort to honor good students as highly as our school culture honors young athletes.

In Billings, Montana some years ago, white supremacists vandalized homes that displayed Jewish menorahs in their windows, in celebration of Chanukah. The largely Christian community of Billings rallied around their Jewish neighbors by putting menorahs in their own windows, despite the supremacists' threats. The inspiring story is now available to schools as a play.
