Dean Cornett of Paint Lick KY is the founder of Friends of Paint Lick, working against hunger, illiteracy and unemployment, problems many residents don't want discussed. Cornett digs into her own pocket when funds are short, and although in her 70's, regularly puts in ten hours a day, seven days a week.

Joan Coulombe of Eugene OR has been working for learning disabled kids since her own child ran afoul of an educational system that didn’t recognize his problem. Coulombe’s INSIGHT program counsels parents, coaches kids and presses educators to understand and assist kids who don’t learn the “right” way.

Radio announcer David Cox of Gallup NM has cerebral palsy and is paralyzed on his left side, but that hasn't stopped him from helping his disabled and elderly neighbors with things that are hard for them to do. He shovels snow, takes out trash, shops,and does home repairs. As soon as he was old enough to drive, he also started taking them to doctors' appointments. Offered jobs in other cities, he's refused to leave his network of needy neighbors.

Eagle Scout Steven Cozza of Petaluma CA thinks the Boy Scouts of America should live up to their own handbook, which promotes respect and the defense of the rights of all people. That's why he tirelessly campaigns against the Scouts' policy of excluding homosexuals as members and leaders.

Roberta Crawford of North Palm Beach FL used her life savings and many loans to assemble and distribute information on hemochromatosis, an iron-overload disease that almost took her own life. Crawford is helping others whose genes make them vulnerable to iron-overload, and educating health care givers about the symptoms.

Lisa Crawford of Harrison OH withstood harassment and ridicule to lead the fight against a private company and the Department of Energy for poisoning the community. After winning a lawsuit in which the DOE admitted knowing about decades of uranium leaks in Harrison, Crawford began counseling "atomic" towns around the country.

Pat Crosby and Carol Watson of Minneapolis founded Missing Children Minnesota after discovering there were no such agencies in their area. They provide counseling to parents in their searches for missing children.

Newburgh, Indiana's Jason Crowe is a newspaper editor, publisher, peace activist, humanitarian and respected writer on topics ranging from religious tolerance to animal rights. The teen's causes include the creation of a peace monument in Sarajevo.

John Croyle of Glencoe AL turned down a promising career in pro football to start a ranch for disadvantaged boys, and went on to open a second ranch for girls. The former defensive end treats each child as his own.

Equestrian Beth Currier of Arroyo Grande CA was struck by polio at age 12 and told by doctors she would never ride again. She not only rides, she runs a free riding service for other people with disabilities, for senior citizens, and for disadvantaged youth.

Betty Curry of Harrisburg VA refused to give up when her doctor told her that her muscle disease, Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM), was rare and untreatable. She founded the Myositis Association of America (MAA) to inform victims and their families about treatments that are available, and has made it known that IBM is not rare but the most common muscle disease in people over 50.
