Hoffman, Steve

Steve Hoffman of Salt Lake City UT gave up the security of his job as a US Fish and Wildlife Service biologist in 1987 to found HawkWatch International. Hawkins spent all his retirement money, took on a load of personal debt, and for three years worked 80 hours a week without pay to do the work the USFWS never seemed to get to: intense research on raptors. HawkWatch is now operating in seven states and providing vital research that may save the hawks of the West.

The play was a critical success—but more important to these young performers—the play helped their peers and the entire community deal with their shock and grief.
