Samantha Ibarguen of Key Biscayne FL organized the first Earth Week at her middle school, and got her fellow students to work on recycling, tree plantings, and global reforestation. In her environmental column in a local paper, she’s written about issues from the greenhouse effect to the advantages of low-water-use landscaping. A veteran fundraiser, she oversees dispersal of funds from a trust she and a local bank established to finance kids' environmental and educational projects.
