Northrup comptroller Jean-Francois Truong of Los Angeles CA refused to falsify reports on the company’s B-2 bomber, demanding a clean report on production delays and huge cost overruns. Locked out of his job, Troung took the aerospace giant to court for fraud and testified before Congress, exposing the company's corruption and misuse of taxpayer dollars.

Dep Tuany and Salva Dut were "lost boys" from rival tribes, both refugees from a civil war that devastated their country, Sudan. Now resettled in the US, Dut and Tuany have put tribal hatreds behind them to work together, raising funds to dig wells and help rebuild the nation that used to be their home.

Michael Tufariello of Carollton TX, a career Navy chief with a chest full of medals, was harassed and demoted for blowing the whistle on fraudulent billing that was costing taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. Tuo, Mutang

Mutang Tu’o of Borneo is fighting to preserve the rainforest in which the Penan and Kelabit hunter-gatherers have always lived. When Paren and his allies were unable to stop clearcutters with non-violent road blockades and petitions to the government, they overcame their fears of leaving their world for the first time, slipped past authorities, and embarked on an international campaign to tell the world their story. Turner, Ellen

Ellen Turner of Knoxville TN retired from nursing and, with her twin sister Helen Asher, began feeding the homeless out of a church basement. Despite the sisters’ advancing years, ill health, evictions, uncertain financing, and the dangers of serving any and all comers, their Love Kitchen serves 900 people twice a week, many of them homebound.

Turner, Joseph

Joseph Turner has been sued and threatened for his high-profile activism and his relentless campaign against the polluters of Pennsylvania’s waterways. His nonprofit sues polluters and turns settlements over to organizations that improve water quality. Turner spends long, tense hours in depositions and research despite a heart condition that caused his retirement from the police.

Writer Lynn Tylczak of Albany OR wants bittering agents put into common household poisons, so small kids won’t eat or drink them.
